Talk to any photographer and they’ll tell you we’re always on the same side of the camera…always photograph-ing, never photograph-ed. Very rarely, especially at weddings, do we find ourselves a part of the bridal party or even a guest…I had almost forgotten how much fun it was until Craig and Jill were married 🙂
Craig and Jill are very dear and wonderful friends of mine. My husband and I, along with Craig’s future best man were lucky enough to be a part of their surprise engagement in Islamorada, Florida 2 years ago. I was so honored when they asked if I’d be a bridesmaid and even more so that Duca Studio photograph their wedding day. Of course my answer to both was yes and the rest is now beautiful history…
The wedding day began in different locations which allowed for emotions and anxiety to build. Jill’s parents have a gorgeous home and had recently re-decorated the bedroom she grew up in for the occasion. That’s always a great tip we share with our couples…whatever location you choose, just keep in mind it will be the backdrop for some of the most important photographs you’ll ever have taken.
Large bridal parties can be a lot to handle for any photographer, but the group of family and friends that surrounded Craig and Jill were up for anything. Like most of our grooms, Craig was a little reluctant when it came to the photography part of the wedding, but I know he’d tell you now that it was almost painless 😉
The weather was questionable and on our heels most of the day, with an outdoor ceremony at Penn Oaks Golf Club, it’s always a cause for anxiety BUT the weather held out and the clouds overhead created a spectacular sky.
Family groups and bridal party photographs were taken immediately following the ceremony on the grounds of the course. Our studio has formed such a great relationship with the staff at Penn Oaks and would recommend this venue time and time again. They are always so professional and accommodating.
Penn Oaks Golf Club has a great ballroom and when decorated so perfectly as it was, the room is gorgeous. The evening kicked off with fun introductions, great toasts and speeches, heartfelt first dances and amazing food. As a surprise for Craig from his new bride Jill, all of the guests were ushered outside to view an amazing firework show! We were let in on the secret a few days before the wedding and arrived prepared. Take a look at some of the fantastic images we captured! Congratulations to the bride and groom 🙂 We wish you only the very best in your future together…especially since your family will be growing by two feet in July 🙂
